Nakudla Shark Fest Snorkel Event

Sunday 7th November

10:00am - 3:30pm

At Esplanade, Christies Beach, South Australia, 5165 Esplanade, Christies Beach, South Australia, 5165

Who wants to swim with Nakudla which is the Kaurna word for shark? Join us for a guided snorkel with our harmless "puppies of the sea" (Port Jackson sharks) at Christies Beach and learn why sharks are so important to the health of our reefs.

Port Jackson sharks (PJ's) are small sharks that feed on small crabs and shellfish. In early November the Port Jackson's come into shallow water to mate, lay eggs and rest - often aggregating in the hundreds on one small area of the reef.

At the easy beach entry point, you may see cowfish, crabs, eagle rays and large schools of whiting. As you move along the reef look for bright orange sea stars, colourful reef fish, squid, boarfish or maybe a wobbegong or dolphin.

Qualified snorkel guides lead the small group tours (maximum of 6 people to 1 guide) and are often accompanied by student or qualified marine biologists.

We Provide a wetsuit, mask (goggles), snorkel, fins (flippers).

All wetsuits are washed, and mask/snorkels sterilised between uses with COVID-19 approved chemicals.
Bring your own mask and snorkel if you have them.
