Here's what’s open in McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast today. A great way to support local.

Travelling with Pets

Pooch parents will find great experiences to enjoy with their fur-babies this summer, as McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast offers a range of pet-friendly experiences from cafés to cellar doors and breweries

We’ve made exploring the region with your beloved pet a little easier. We’ve sniffed out some great suggestions to ensure your dog enjoys their experience just as much as you. The winter months might be a little colder, but you and your furry friend can still enjoy a great adventure!

Walkies!

A paw-fect way to start the day is a visit to either the Minkarra Dog Park at Flagstaff Hill or Symonds Reserve Dog Park at Aldinga Beach. These off-leash parks are a dog pleaser, featuring lots of space to play and refreshing drink fountains. Minkarra is popular for its dog exercise equipment, whilst Symonds Reserve offers separate small and large dog areas. Pet owners are well catered for too with shelter, water fountains, seating and walking paths to enjoy.

A recent addition for a new ‘dogs day out experience’ is the Dinton Farm Reserve. The reserve features a dog park equipped with perimeter fencing, drink fountain with doggie bowl, lawn area and large shade trees to watch your dog play and meet other dogs.

There is also a range of fantastic recreational trails to explore with your pet on-leash including the Coast to Vines trail, Coast Park trail and Minkarra Park trails. Discover more trails to enjoy with you fur baby visit www.onkaparingacity.comm

Where to stay with your best friend

Whether discovering the region for a week or just a couple of days with your beloved pet, there are fantastic pet friendly accommodation and activities just waiting to be enjoyed year round. Here’s a few top picks, noting it is always best to call to discuss the finer fur details.

Beach-loving pooches

If your dog is a beach lover, there are dedicated areas along the region’s coastline to enjoy off-leash exercise. We know how much dogs enjoy playing in the water and making new friends, however it is important that your dog is under effective control at all times and must be leashed to and from the off-leash area.

The following beaches offer off-leash sections:

Pet-Minding

If you are attending an event or special occasion which isn’t so pet friendly, the region offers a pet-minding service. Coastal Pet Services can come to you for walks, pick up’s or drop off’s or longer stay pet minding.

Dish-licking venues

There are great dog friendly eateries on offer across the region, with some offering treats for your fur baby too.  Keep an eye out for the abundance of winery dogs that have become familiar faces about the towns.

Here are some local wineries, cafes and breweries that would love to say hi to you and your pooch
