Best Degustation & 'Feed Me' Menus Near Adelaide — McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Coast
Ever wished someone else would just… decide for you? No scanning the menu, no "you choose, no you choose," no second-guessing whether you should've got the other thing? Welcome to the joy of the degustation and 'feed me' menu — the region's answer to decision fatigue.
Just 40 minutes from Adelaide, top picks include d'Arenberg's D'Arry's Verandah Restaurant (eight courses), Coriole and Ekhidna in the vines, Star of Greece and Pearl right on the coast, plus relaxed shared-plate options at Pizzateca and Russell's Pizza — and quite possibly the most relaxing way to eat you'll ever experience.
The McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast region is home to some of South Australia's most exciting degustation, chef's choice and 'feed me' menus — where all you have to do is turn up hungry, sit back, and let the professionals take it from here.
Across the region, more and more local restaurants are handing the reins to the kitchen, letting chefs cook what they're genuinely excited about that day — while you get to sit there looking effortlessly sophisticated, course after course.
Think seasonal dishes made with top local produce, menus that shift with the seasons, and the kind of food that gets made not because it's "safe" but because the chef couldn't resist.
Some venues go all in with a proper multi-course fine dining affair. Others keep it loose and communal, sending out shared plates until you physically cannot manage another bite (a very good problem to have).
Either way, the mission is the same: flavour, creativity, and letting you taste the very best of the region's food scene without lifting a finger to decide.
So, book a table, bring your appetite, and let them feed you.

Best 'Feed Me' & Shared Plate Menus
Our Place at Willunga Hill
One of the hidden treasures of McLaren Vale, this hilltop gem is run by local legends Andy Clappis and his 89-year-old father Enzo Clappis — hospitality royalty from way back, and proof that some of the best food comes from people who've been doing this their whole lives. Sunday lunches only, hearty Italian food, and enough charisma to go around the whole table.
Must try: Andy's cannoli are famous region-wide, for very good reason.
Pizzateca, McLaren Vale
Let the Pizzateca crew take the wheel with one of their set menus (a happy compulsory extra for groups of 8–14). Great pizza, great vibes, zero decisions required.
