Things to See and Do In Autumn in McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Coast

Autumn Delights During The Most Colourful Time of Year

This time of year, you probably have visions of endless beaches (don't get us wrong, they are awesome too!), but when it comes to McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast, Autumn steals the show.

The vineyards are filled with fiery reds and sunshine yellows, the air is crisp and fresh, and yep, the locals aren't kidding – this place is amazing all year round. So, ready to explore a whole new side of this gorgeous region?

Wine tasting without the worry.

Vintage is a wonderful time to visit wineries.

Typically running from early February to late April, not only do you get to sample the fruits of their labour from the comfort of a cellar door, you might even catch a glimpse of some harvest action as you make your way from place to place.

Ready for some seriously good wine without having to be the designated driver?!

Then check out a winery tour - without skipping the samples - TrailHopper Tours is here to save the day. Their McLaren Vale North or South ‘Hop On Hop Off Tour’ is the perfect solution to get you where you need to go, without the worry.

Adelaide’s only hop on, hop off tour service that departs from either the CBD or the McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre, their service runs on a pre-determined route, stopping at loads of cellar doors along the way.

One of the most fun and affordable full-day tours going around, the best bit is that you’ve got complete control. Choose which wineries you want to visit, where you want to grab lunch and how long you want to stay at each place - easy!

But if you’re after something a little more intimate? Why not check out one of the private tour operators that offer uniquely curated experiences, exclusive travel and access to many ‘hidden gems’ of the region.

Small Batch Wine Tours (image credit) offer a range of premium winery tours for small groups, tailoring each experience to suit any level of wine expertise, from beginners to connoisseurs. If you’re looking to explore more than just wineries, Chook's Little Winery Tours take you on a completely personalised journey past restaurants, cafés and art galleries too.

And if you want to get really fancy? Why not take a wine tour by air! Helivista delivers a wine experience like no other, with a range of wine flights and lunch packages that see you winery-hop by helicopter in true luxury style.
