Not only is the McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Coast region well known for its local brews but also for the ever-growing selection of spirits distilled right here in the vineyard valleys. Here are few top spots to sip a local nip...

Settlers Spirits – One of the first distilleries in the region, Settlers now crafts a selection of gin, Whisky, liqueurs, Rum and Vodka. They offer tastings of their products in their distillery door and even masterclasses for gin too. Make sure to try their G & Tea Breakfast Gin infused with Earl Grey tea or their Shiraz gin which is uniquely crafted to fit their wine region locale.

The Salopian Inn – Known for their fresh local fare and home to one of the most abundant bars in the region. Over 100 gins (mostly Australian and South Australian) grace the shelves, including two of their own gins. Try ‘Up the Garden Path’ which feature botanicals sourced from their own kitchen garden. Or their ‘Happy Is The New Rich’ which showcases Asian flavours similar to those on their Asian-fusion menus.

Penny’s Hill – Offering a new experience in the region with the opening of the Prohibition Liquor  The setting is perfect, in the gorgeous historic original Thomas Gross Carriage House, close to the airstrip between the vines. – perhaps there’s something in the name.

Never Never Distilling Co. – Voted the World’s Best Classic Gin at the prestigious 2019 World Gin Awards in London. Part of the Chalk Hill Collective, Gin, Wine and Pizza, is there any better combination!
