Looking for a dog friendly cellar door in McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast? You’re in luck.

Plenty of wineries across the region roll out the welcome mat for well-behaved pooches - and their wine-loving humans.

McLaren Vale is also home to the winery dogs – so famous that there's even a winery dog of the year!

So whether you’re stopping in for a tasting or settling in for the afternoon, there are plenty of spots where your four-legged friend can tag along.

Here are a few dog friendly cellar doors we've sniffed out for you:

  • Dog Ridge - Named with pups in mind, this spot is home to resident wine dogs Ralphy and Ringo. Visitors can even create a custom wine label in honour of their own best mate.

  • Shottesbrooke Wines - Just up the road, this winery pairs perfectly with a stay at the dog friendly McLaren Vale Getaways accommodation next door.

  • Kay Brothers Winery - A hit with dogs, especially thanks to the signature biscuit barrel stocked with treats for visiting canines.

  • Mollydooker Wines - Don’t miss a snap of your pup on the iconic Mollydooker truck - perfect for your next Insta-worthy post.

  • Chapel Hill - Dogs are welcome in the covered atrium, where they’ll get a bowl of fresh water while you enjoy a glass or two.

  • Chalk Hill Wines - Perched atop an organic vineyard, dogs are welcome to sprawl out on the lawn while you sip wine and soak up some of the best views in McLaren Vale.

  • Paxton Wines - With plenty of space to roam and shady trees to chill under, Paxton welcomes well-behaved dogs and is a favourite stop for both wine lovers and their four-legged mates.

  • Goodieson Brewery - This one’s for the beer fans - bring your pup, grab a tasting paddle and enjoy the valley views from their dog-friendly deck.

  • Bec Hardy Wines - With plenty of outdoor seating and scenic surroundings, this is a beautiful spot to kick back with your dog by your side.

A quick note on “pawtocol”: Keep your dog on a lead, bring waste bags and be mindful of others at the venue. Not all visitors will be as excited to see your furry friend as the winemakers are.
