Embark on a behind the scenes tour of the winery with an exclusive private tasting experience and discover more about the fascinating history and heritage of Maxwell. You will have a rare opportunity to taste wine directly from the barrel to compare the oaks they are maturing in - just like a winemaker! You will also have the chance to explore the 100-year-old Lime Cave.

Cellar Door Tasting Experiences

Premium Wine Tasting: Taste the best of Maxwell's historic vineyards and limited-release wines. These are single-parcel wines of the utmost quality, with layered depth & character. Wine Tasting: Enjoy wines from Maxwell's estate with a classic tasting - vibrant & approachable to drink now and cellar or relax with a Seasonal Tasting, thoughtfully curated for the season - Choice can be made on the day. Mead Tasting: At Maxwell Wines, we've been making mead for 3 generations. One of the oldest known alcoholic beverages on record, mead is full of both history and flavour! Book a mead flight with us to try our four delicious styles of meads. Flight includes Sparkling Mead, Honey Mead, Spiced Mead and Liqueur Mead. Non-Drinker: Please add in any additional non-drinkers, drivers, or children that will require seating so that we can allocate the most appropriate table. * Please note groups of 6 or more must select the same tasting experience * * Chef curated snacks are unable to accommodate dietary requests with ingredients sourced seasonally / Available between 11am and 4pm only / 7 days a week

Winery Heritage Tour & Fine Dining Lunch

Embark on a behind the scenes tour of our working winery and learn about the winemaking process - from the arrival of the grapes to the press, fermenting and blending methods adopted to produce our premium wines. Here, you'll witness barrels of wine patiently waiting to mature and discover the fascinating process the winemaker goes through to help the wine realize its true potential. Within our tasting room, you'll enjoy an exclusive private tasting experience and discover more about the fascinating history and heritage of Maxwell. You'll then have a rare opportunity to taste wine directly from the barrel to compare the oaks they are maturing in - just like a winemaker! Our restaurant has some of the most impressive views in McLaren Vale, which you can admire whilst you indulge in Chef Fabian Lehmann's latest culinary masterpiece. Each course is carefully curated with seasonal and regional produce that is perfectly paired with wines from our current vintage, so you're certain to uncover your new favourite drop. Please note, this experience will be around 4.5 hours in total - finishing around 3.30 pm with your lunch at 12:30 pm. This booking is subject to restaurant availability.

Vineyard Sustainability Tour & Tasting

This is a unique and intimate opportunity to explore the Maxwell estate. Your guided tour will take you in the comfort of Maxwell’s electric buggy to visit the vineyards of the estate including our iconic 92-year-old Grenache vines. During the tour, you will be taken on a journey through our certified sustainable vineyards to give you an insight into how much work goes into your favourite bottle of wine while looking after the environment. After taking in the beautiful views of McLaren Vale from the slopes of the vineyard, your tour is followed by a premium tasting, connecting the vines to their wines.

Price is per person and a minimum of two people for the tour.
