Built close to the banks of the Onkaparinga River/Ngangkiparinga (Women’s River – Kaurna), Sauerbier House is a colonial villa - c.1898 turned contemporary art space featuring bespoke galleries and two working studios.
Sauerbier House publicly presents a diverse and rolling calendar of exhibitions and events across the year, offering visitors the opportunity to experience a myriad of contemporary creative processes.
The two working studios provide local or visiting artists with space and support to develop site responsive projects, through which the wider community can regularly become involved or contribute.
Interactions with locals and visitors are fostered and creative relationships developed through regular open-studio sessions, artist’s talks, gallery tours and interactive workshops. These unique and sometimes spontaneous offerings provide visitors and arranged groups with a rare glimpse into the practice and process of a working artist.
