Overview
Silver Sands Beach, located near Aldinga on the stunning Fleurieu Peninsula, is a pristine stretch of coastline known for its soft white sands, crystal-clear waters.
Silver Sands is one of the Fleurieu Peninsula's best-known drive-on beaches, just south of Aldinga and around 45 minutes from Adelaide.
Its long, west-facing stretch of sand makes it easy to settle in for a full beach day, with vehicle access available in designated areas subject to local conditions and regulations.
The relatively shallow nearshore waters are popular for swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking, while fishing from the beach is another local favourite. There is plenty of room for long walks along the shoreline, and the west-facing position means Silver Sands is also a good spot to stay into the late afternoon.
Dogs are permitted in designated areas, subject to current council regulations, so check requirements before visiting. Drivers should also follow beach access signage, speed limits, tides and any seasonal restrictions.
With Aldinga Beach nearby and the McLaren Vale wine region just inland, Silver Sands is an easy addition to a wider Fleurieu day — beach first, then food, wine or a stop in town afterwards.
